The previous Allen Lima Leadership Class just graduated this week, and now a new one is ready to go. 37 new members got together this morning for an orientation. The meet and greet laid out what's planned for the course. The mantra of the Allen Lima Leadership Group is to strive to lead, connect, grow, and serve the community. That includes local tours focusing on education, healthcare, the media, and manufacturing. Students then take what they learned back to their own workplaces.

The Zero to Hero training prepared future volunteers to help victims of disasters in our area. These volunteers typically respond to house fires, floods, and severe winter weather, where they provide supplies and comfort to people experiencing a crisis.
If you have a fitness goal for 2023, the Lima YMCA, could have a class to help get you there. After taking the last two years off because of the pandemic, the Y brought back their Fitness Fun Day. Members and non-members could come in Saturday morning and take part in eight different 30-minute sample classes. If you like the stretching that goes along with yoga, or building your core, or if you like to get your heart pumping with Zumba, there is a class for everyone taste. Plus, working out is much more fun with a friend.
If you have a new year’s resolution to get to the gym and workout more in 2023. The Lima YMCA is offering a chance on Saturday January 7th to check a variety of classes during their Fitness Fun Day. Members and non-members can come in from 8 to 11 am and take part in 30-minute sample classes like Zumba, Kettle Ball, and Yoga.
The Allen Lima Youth Leadership Class is learning how organizations are making positive differences throughout Lima and Allen County.
Members of the argumentation and advocacy class presented a debate to their fellow students on the topic of "Gun violence in America and the assault weapons ban." The students were divided into two groups and assigned to argue for and against the issue of a federal assault weapons ban. With social media, there is no shortage of opinions about topical issues, but the class challenges them to debate the facts, without personal feelings on the issue.

It was a fun day of learning about each other and how to be a community leader for the new Allen Lima Leadership Youth Class. 24 seniors, juniors, and sophomores from Allen County schools, along with Wapakoneta and Ottawa-Glandorf, learn about leadership, connection to community and peers, and service to community. The students did activities to learn about working together and started getting ideas on a future service project. Elida Junior Brianna Smith wanted to learn how she can focus her ideas to help the community.
Perry Commodores welcoming 61 graduating classes to their first ever all Alumni Reunion. Around 400 Perry graduates and guests from the classes of 1961 to present were on hand for the event. Each of the classes have held their own personal reunions before, but organizers thought that bringing everyone together would give different classes and generations a chance to reminisce together. But this could be just the beginning for these type of events.
