Criderviille, OH (WLIO) - It was a fun day of learning about each other and how to be a community leader for the new Allen Lima Leadership Youth Class. 24 seniors, juniors, and sophomores from Allen County schools, along with Wapakoneta and Ottawa-Glandorf, learn about leadership, connection to community and peers, and service to community. The students did activities to learn about working together and started getting ideas on a future service project. Elida Junior Brianna Smith wanted to learn how she can focus her ideas to help the community.

“I always see myself as a leader. So, joining the ALL group, I decided that I, kind of, want to put my opinions out there and I have a lot of ideas. So, I want to use them for good,” says Smith. “I want to have more confidence and try and help people and stuff. Because I always wanted to help people I just didn’t know where to start. So, I think this is a good start for me.”
As part of the class, the students will have to create their own community impact project, in the spring they will present their ideas to the Lima Rotary. Then members will vote on the best project, which will win a grant to get it started.
