LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — An Edon woman will avoid jail time after pleading guilty in a government benefits case.
Jocastia Owsley, 45, was charged with illegal use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, a third-degree felony. Allen County Job and Family Services said an investigation found Owsley claimed she was living in Lima when she was actually living in Edon and was not eligible for the benefits. Owsley entered a guilty plea and will complete a diversion program in lieu of conviction. If she successfully completes the program, the charge will be dismissed.
