ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) — Classic cars, trucks and community support helped the Elida Historical Society raise money to preserve the village's history during its second annual car show fundraiser.
The event featured a variety of vehicles, with several participants taking home trophies. Families also had the opportunity to explore an American Township Fire Department fire truck and ambulance that were on display for children to enjoy. Organizers said sponsorship support plays a key role in helping the historical society raise funds to preserve Elida's history through its museum.
“We hope that people do uh take this opportunity here to learn a little bit more about the museum and maybe visit us. And we definitely intend to continue with this car show and build it and hope it just gets bigger and better every year. And just kind of try to show this people that live in Elita, Little Pride in our little town and people that maybe didn't grow up in Elita might want to see what it was like before they got here,” said Judy Lehman, secretary of the Elida Historical Society.
Lehman said organizers plan to continue growing the event each year while encouraging residents and visitors to learn more about the village's history. The Elida Museum is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month. The museum is located at 109 W. Main St. in Elida.
