COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) - Columbus Grove residents were treated to a full day of events, games, and fun at the sixth annual June Jubilee.
Events were held across the whole day at Memorial Park and Columbus Grove High School, including a pickleball tournament, a fun run, and a golf cart poker run. The jubilee also offered activities for kids, including bouncing houses, face painting, and a balloon toss.
During the event, people could buy food from numerous vendors and listen to live bands in attendance. Officials said the event was organized by members of the Columbus Grove Lions Club and the fire department to help promote togetherness in the community.
"We had it before, back in the 1980s and 1990s. It kind of faded out a little bit, and a group of volunteers decided to get together and try to restart it. It just helps bring the community all together and gives them activities to do," said Jeff Vance, Columbus Grove village administrator.
A car show was held alongside the festivities where participants could vote on their favorite cars. The show was held in memory of Mike "Fish" Moening, a former officer with the Survivor's Car Club.
"He was in a wheelchair since 1972, so we're donating our proceeds to the Tunnels to Towers foundation, which he was active in and supporting," said Dan Risser, organizer for the car show and president of U.S. Autoclave. "The June Jubilee planning committee has tried to offer a lot of different activities, and this is just something that brings a lot of visitors to our community."
The event ended with a firework show and a raffle for various items, including a club car golf cart, a gas grill, and a cooler.
