LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Locos secured a series victory over the Xenia Scouts on Saturday night, using a dominant performance on the mound and timely hitting to earn a 9-1 win at Simmons Field.

Garrett Byrd set the tone early for Lima, striking out two batters in the first inning. The right-hander went six innings, allowing no runs while recording six strikeouts.

The Locos broke through in the bottom of the first inning when a wild pitch allowed Avery Wilson to score and give Lima a 1-0 lead.

Later in the frame, Grant McGuire delivered an RBI single to right field, bringing home Elijah Buffaloe and extending the advantage to 2-0.

Lima added to its lead in the fifth inning. Jimmy Dionne drove in Wilson with a single to right field, making it 3-0.

The offense continued to produce as Braylon Cordonnier ripped a two-run double to right field, pushing the Locos' lead to seven runs.

Cameron Owens later added a sacrifice fly that allowed Gabe Gonzalez to tag up and score.

Behind Byrd's strong start and a balanced offensive attack, the Locos cruised to a 9-1 victory and improved to 11-2 on the season.
