ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Allen County Job and Family Services wants to warn SNAP cardholders about several skimming incidents that have been reported. Officials say they have had dozens of reports of unauthorized use of clients' cards. Their statements show multiple purchases from the New York area that emptied their account. Allen County Job and Family Services says that this seems to be happening across the nation due to the EBT cards being skimmed during legitimate purchases. They say the State of Ohio is investigating and there is a way to protect your account.

This assistance program will give first priority to low-income residents, but all residents in need of assistance will be considered.

With the partial government shutdown still going on in Washington D.C., food dollars with the SNAP program are being issued earlier.

The Food and Nutrition Service issued food dollars for the month of February on January 16th to customers who have been approved for next month. That adds funds on top of the food dollars that had already been issued for January.
