LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Most local schools were not in session today in observance of Presidents’ Day. However, some students took the day off to explore the next step in their education.

Ohio State Lima’s Buckeye Preview Day open house offered them a tour of the campus. Academic advisors guided them through the admissions and application process, while financial aid advisors walked them through applying for financial aid and scholarship opportunities. After the tour, faculty members shared their first-hand experiences on campus and answered any questions from students or parents.

"I hope that they take away that we are an awesome place to start their Ohio State journey, whether they have a degree that one of like our nursing programs, where they are going to be on our Columbus campus guaranteed, or maybe they realize that Lima all four years is definitely something that they're interested in with things like middle and early childhood education or engineering technologies that's unique to the regional campuses, just hoping they leave learning more than they came with," said Zachary Welly, admissions counselor for The Ohio State University Lima Campus.

"There's a lot of student life opportunities. There's a lot of good majors and minors here. Even if you want to stay just two years, you're free to go to Columbus if you meet your requirements. There's a ton of stuff here, and I'm glad I could be a part of this experience," said Evan Spieth, one of the students that took part in the tour.

The next Buckeye Preview Day is scheduled for Friday, March 21. More information and registration details can be found at https://lima.osu.edu/.
