LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A prominent feature of one of the region’s earliest indoor shopping malls has come down. The large white tower, once a signature element of the former Macy’s department store, was demolished Wednesday evening.
Crews with Complete Demolition Services have been working for just over two months to tear down the 201,000-square-foot building. As demolition continues, materials such as concrete and metal are being separated for recycling.
The project, led by the Allen County Land Bank, is expected to be finished in the coming weeks.Â
On Thursday morning, J and D Snyder Excavating began milling the surrounding parking lot.
