COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — The state of Ohio is providing millions of dollars in funding to support housing growth and rehabilitation projects across the state, including several projects in northwest and west-central Ohio.

In the fifth round of housing growth grants, nearly $27 million was awarded to projects in 57 counties to help address housing needs through home construction, rehabilitation and property purchases.

New Lima received $900,000 through its “Housing for the Future” initiative. The funding will support the rehabilitation or construction of nine homes.

Maumee Valley Community Lands was awarded funding for projects in Putnam County and five other counties. The organization received $602,000 for property purchases and an additional $900,000 for the rehabilitation or construction of nine homes.

Habitat for Humanity of Findlay and Hancock County received $500,000 to support the rehabilitation or construction of five homes.

State officials say the funding is intended to help communities increase housing availability and improve access to affordable housing throughout Ohio.
