LIMA, OH (WLIO) - If you have a child of the age of 5 years and younger, applications for the West Ohio CAP Head Start and Early Head Start programs are being accepted.
Classes will be held in their new building on 8th Street with the first class starting August 22nd. Educators say that early education is the most important thing for our children as it not only teaches them learning skills but it also gets them started on basic social skills.
"What our goal in head start is to develop weekly lessons and embed learning into those activities. So they're working on social skills. They're working on basic early childhood. Colors, name recognition, alphabet, shapes, and all while they're doing that through play, through active engagement with their peers," explained Phyllis Montrose, child development services director.
