Some Lima City School students getting out of the classroom and into the kitchen Thursday for a lesson in business.

The enrichment class from Lima's South Science and Technology Magnet School getting a tour of Sara's Sweets as part of Lima Senior High School's "DECA" program. The DECA students created a program for the 8th graders to learn about business and marketing and what it takes to be your own boss.

DECA student Ti'ara Spivey says they have been working with the 8th graders for 10 weeks and Thursday's visit to Sara's Sweets was a chance to hear from an actual business owner on what it took to get started. The 8th graders also created a cupcake concept and Tatum Twining was the winner.

Twining's winning cupcake is called "Dirt Cake" complete with a gummy worm on top. Sara's Sweets made the cupcake and put it on the menu at the store and it seems to be a hit. Owner Sara Anderson hopes the students get inspired by their visit and encourages them to be prepared if they want to start their own business. She says to be ready to work hard and a lot. It is very difficult at the start but if you a persistent and hang in there you will be successful.

The students got to try the "Dirt Cake" cupcake or another cupcake of their choice for coming.
