April 10, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Theatre Lima: On Saturday, April 20 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM all those interested in the Arts, Historic Preservation and the Revitalization of Downtown Lima will gather at The Ohio Theatre Lima in support and in celebration of the ongoing glorious restoration of this local Cultural Icon.

Organized by Lima Artist and Activist Terri Lynne Blosser, this event promises to deliver an afternoon of Fine Art, Entertainment, and Delicious Food all for a $10 ticket, available here: https://www.avantegarage.com/event-details/art-auction-gala.  All funds will go directly towards the ongoing restoration of The Ohio Theatre Lima, a 97 year old Historic Theatre listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

Ms. Blosser, who has tirelessly volunteered her time, talents and skills to the ongoing restoration work at the theatre has gathered an impressive list of regional artists: Organizer Terri Lynne Blosser, Co-owner of The Ohio Theatre Lima Joe CorrellKristin LeeJohn RauschAmanda RoseScott RoseSue SmithJohn Wehn-er and Maha Zehery

Additionally, Steve Parlato, acclaimed Connecticut Award-Winning Young Adult Author and Artist is also contributing new work to the cause. Mr. Parlato’s “They Are Not Disposable” collages were recently exhibited at ArtSpace/Lima in 2022.

All of the Artists have created special one of a kind works specifically for this event that are inspired by or pay tribute to The Ohio Theatre Lima.

In addition to the Auction, Local Artist, Songwriter and Musician Mike Huffman will be the featured entertainment during the cocktail hour lending a collection of his original songs and anecdotes to the festivities. Catering is provided by The Ohio Theatre Lima.

Serving as Mistress of Ceremonies for this “Can’t Miss Event” is Bradfield Community Center Program Coordinator Tesha Banks. Ms. Banks who is an avid advocate for Physical Fitness under the moniker of “Lady Redd” was recently awarded a Community Service Award from the Hy Ho Club.

The Ohio Theatre Lima, located at 122 West North Street in Downtown Lima is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Opening in 1927 as a movie palace and vaudeville theatre before being converted into a nightclub in 1978. Although a full one-third of the Theatre has been fully renovated, the remainder of the space is still undergoing a major renovation correcting years of damage caused by a leaking roof and returning the theatre to a more traditional look as it might have appeared in the roaring 20’s! 

Assisting with the renovations is Friends of the Ohio Theatre, a 501c3 non-profit which raises funds to help pay for the restorations.
