FINDLAY, Ohio — Approximately 22 veterans die by suicide each day — a tragic loss roughly every 65 minutes. On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the community will gather for Silent Watch from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM in front of the Hancock County Courthouse to stand in solidarity with veterans, raise awareness about mental health, and show that no one has to fight alone.
At 7:00 AM, a flag-draped casket will be placed in front of the Courthouse. Volunteers will then stand guard in 22-minute intervals throughout the day to symbolize the 22 lives lost daily. The final stand concludes at 5:00 PM, followed by closing ceremonies around 5:15 PM.
This event is free, open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. The Hancock County Veteran Service Office will be on site with mental-health and support resources.
This year’s Silent Watch is hosted by AK Wealth Management, Andy Sterling (Rate), and the Hancock County Veteran Service Office, in honor and memory of Gaven Smith (United States Marine Corps) and his fellow fallen.
