KENTON, Ohio (WLIO) - A Columbus man did not appear in a Hardin court on Thursday for arraignment on murder charges.

Hardin County court documents say that 50-year-old Anthony Browne was in the hospital and proceedings won't be held until he is able to appear. He was indicted on five counts that included aggravated murder in the death of Richard Whitaker Junior in September of 2022.

Hardin County deputies found the 44-year-old Mount Victory man with a gunshot wound in a vehicle with its lights off along a rural Hardin County road. Whitaker was flown to St. Rita's, where he later died.

Browne began serving a five-year prison term last year on two counts of illegally manufacturing drugs.
