KENTON, Ohio (WLIO) — A man serving prison time for drug charges has been indicted for a 2022 murder in Hardin County.

A Hardin County Grand Jury indicted Anthony Allen Browne, 50, on charges of aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, having weapons under disability, possession of criminal tools, and defacing identification marks of a firearm for the death of Richard Whitaker Junior in September of 2022.

Hardin County deputies found the 44-year-old Mount Victory man with a gunshot wound in a vehicle with its lights off along a rural Hardin County road. Whitaker was flown to Mercy Health - Saint Rita’s where Whitaker died from his injuries.

Browne began serving a five-year prison sentence in 2024 on two counts of illegally manufacturing drugs. He is scheduled to have a hearing on the murder charges in Hardin County in July.
