LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — It was a golden day at the Allen County Fair as hundreds of area seniors enjoyed a day on the midway.
Fairgoers took advantage of the good weather as they made their way through exhibits in the various buildings, visited with friends and enjoyed some of their favorite fair food.
Two Golden Age parties were held during the day, where the oldest man and woman, along with the longest-married couple, were recognized.
Among those enjoying the fair was 101-year-old Dorothy Clum, who said one of her favorite parts was seeing people she had not seen in a while.
“Just seeing different people I hadn't seen for a while even. And I just enjoyed coming.”
One hundred-year-old Howard Lackey said some of his best fair memories involve attending with his wife before she died.
“When my wife was still living, we enjoyed coming out here and we got several times we got the oldest married couple.”
The Allen County Fair will honor veterans on Friday. Veterans will receive free admission through 6 p.m.
A special program will be held at noon, followed by a free lunch in the picnic tent behind the Gospel Tent.
