HANCOCK COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) - The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is investigating a kayaking incident that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 3:30 PM, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office received a report of a man who had fallen off a kayak and could not be located in a pond behind 11770 Township Road 114 in Allen Township.

Deputies, along with the Allen Township Fire Department, arrived on scene and began to look for the man. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called to the scene and began a search in the pond.

Just before 6 PM, the man was located and pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Lonnie Wyse Junior of Arlington, Texas.

The incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 3:38pm the Hancock County Sheriff's Office received a report of a male who had fallen off of a kayak and could not be located in a pond behind the address of 11770 TR 114 in Allen Twp. Deputies along with Allen Twp. Fire Department arrived on scene and began search efforts for the male. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called to the scene and began a systematic search of the pond. At approximately 5:55pm the male was located and pronounced deceased.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Lonnie Wyse Jr of Arlington, Texas.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.

Assisting at the scene was the Allen Twp Fire Department, Hanco EMS, Hancock County Sheriff's Office Dive Team, EMA and Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
