LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - In Faith Ministries honored pastors Michael and Kim Lyons for their 20 years of service to the ministry and to Lima.
Ministries held an anniversary celebration at Westgate Lanes for the pastors to thank them for their dedication. People were treated to food, bowling and games to honor the pastors and their work with the ministry. The pastors said that they have always felt welcomed by the Lima community since moving from Dayton, and that joining IFM has changed them for the better.
“We're originally from Dayton, Ohio, and God had us move here. We didn't have any family or anything. I feel really good with the community of people at the church, and we've been able to do great outreach outside the church,” said Kim Lyons.
"As a pastor, I have to grow just like those who are just joining the church. I've learned how to actually listen better. I've learned how to have more patience, because even being a pastor, you really need patience,” Michael Lyons added.
Members of the ministry said that the pastors have strengthened IFM since joining by adding a young adult ministry and focusing on renovations to the building.
“We just recently launched a young adult ministry, which is called Society 242, and that's one of the biggest bigger projects that we're working on,” said Katelynn Irby, young adult ministry leader. “They also just recently renovated the inside of the sanctuary, painted the walls, and made it just truly beautified. God has truly been so faithful not only to our pastors, but to everybody who's a part of the church.”
The pastors said they hope to expand their community outreach efforts with the ministry in the coming years.
