KALIDA (WLIO) — Fairview punched its ticket to the ACME state championship game with a 3-2 victory over host Kalida in Sunday's state semifinal at Holy Name Ballpark.

Hunter Miller's RBI double gave the Apaches a 1-0 lead in the second before Kalida answered with two runs in the sixth, highlighted by RBI hits from Kellen Ellerbrock and Brady Unverferth to take a 2-1 advantage.

Fairview responded immediately in the bottom of the sixth as Jonah Shininger delivered a two-out, two-run single to put the Apaches back in front. The Wildcats brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but Fairview recorded the final out to set up Monday's state championship matchup against St. Henry.
