Lima City School students get a firsthand account of what it takes to be an American diplomat.
Students at North and West middle schools along with high schoolers had a Zoom meeting with two former United States Ambassadors. It was part of the school's "Closing the Achievement Gap" program to introduce the students to the possibilities that are out there for them when it comes to choosing a career.
8th grader at West Middle School Zahir Spauldine says, “Yeah, It was interesting I’ll probably might get into it. I’m going to read more about it though.”
Zerian Peterson is a C-TAG instructor adds, “I don’t believe a lot of them even knew what an ambassador does, or a diplomat does. By them seeing and understanding what they actually do in other countries and here in the U.S. it gave the opportunity to have the experience and also have an idea of a job they can have in the future.”
Both ambassadors said while all cultures are different there is always something that connects us and that the students should strive for their dreams. The Zoom meeting was made possible by Lima Businesses owner Carlton McLellan.
