LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Fire Department battled a fire at a duplex on the south side of the city earlier Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to 950 and 954 St. Johns Avenue at 5:45 pm Saturday afternoon. The fire was burning on both sides of an abandoned duplex apartment building. There were no injuries as the property was unoccupied and vacant. The Shawnee Township Fire Department also was on the scene to provide aid. Neighbors say there are no utilities being used through the building as it is boarded up. The Lima Fire Department cleared the scene just after 9 pm Saturday night and have declared the building a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined as it is still under investigation, but the cause is suspicious according to the Lima Fire Department. The total damage value of the duplex is $17,400.
