Local fire departments get training grants from State Fire Marshal

A hand full of fire departments in West Central Ohio were awarded training grants from the State Fire Marshal. A total of $450,000 in grants were given to a little over 200 departments around the state. The grants allow departments to go beyond their basic training and learn new firefighting techniques. The local departments that got grants were Bath Township Fire Department ($1,250), Perry Township Fire Department ($4,330), St. Marys Township Fire Department ($1,500), Wapakoneta Fire Department ($4,900), Rockford Community Fire Department ($1,200), and Continental Fire Department ($1,340). The grant recipients were selected on a variety of criteria, including the department’s annual budget, the number of fire incidents, and the amount of people they serve.
