LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's no secret that things are happening in Lima, and it's only going to get better. That from Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith as she puts out her year-end review.
It's not only physical improvements that are being done, but quality of life issues for residents are being addressed.
7.5 million dollars has been invested in capital projects in the city in 2024. Those are investments in improving roads, public spaces, utilities, and more. It's not only physical improvements that are being done, but quality of life issues for residents are being addressed.
"We have also been able to provide the opportunity to own their first home. Four times as many families as we did back in 2023 for the 2024 year. In total, we have provided over $100,000 to 9 families across the city in down payment assistance. We have also been able to help families with necessary home repairs in access of $700,000 in 2024," stated Mayor Sharetta Smith, City of Lima.
Some projects that will be completed in 2025 will be the Lima Community Aquatic Park, the installation of floating solar arrays at Twin Lakes, and the reveal of development plans of Riverfront One and the V.F.W. on Elm Street. Smith says moving Lima forward will take more than just the administration.

"The accomplishments that we have been able to see over the past year is a combination of a shared vision and working together toward that vision. Of course we have our challenges, but residents have the commitment from myself and this administration that every day we get up and we come to work on behalf of Lima citizens, and we are strategically focused on making sure Lima is the best place to live, work, and play," added Smith.
Smith also reports that the city's income tax collections are up by 2%.
