LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The mother of a teen charged with murder will be going to prison for getting rid of the alleged weapon used in the crime.
43-year-old Latoya McClellan was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to the crime. Her son, 18-year-old Donya Perkins is facing murder, felonious assault, and other charges for the death of Steven Smith last year. On July 17th, police found Smith's body in a backyard in the 1000 block of Reese Avenue with a gunshot wound. The weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered. Perkins's trial is scheduled for June 2024.
