They held a meeting at the library to talk to residents about the homicide of Roger Parent Jr. On December 29th of 1978, Parent was shot and killed at the P & S Carry Out, while he was closing for the night. It might have been a robbery, but the detectives are not ruling out any motive for the shooting. So, to help re-energize the case, they decided to hold a meeting to get people talking.

Officers and deputies from various departments were called out just before 4:30 in reference to a man making threats and refusing to leave the store. Scanner traffic also indicated that 31-year-old James Killings was wearing a backpack that he repeatedly took on and off. The sheriff's office says, due to the nature of his threats, the store was evacuated.

According to the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Steinke stole the money by taking portions of customer payments to the utilities department for her own personal use. None of the customers suffered any direct losses. She will be sentenced to possible prison time after the money is collected to pay back the city.

28-year-old Gage Haws of Findlay is facing five federal counts of bank robbery. Haws was arrested by the Hancock County SWAT Team and the Findlay Police Department back in early March. Haws allegedly robbed the Premier Bank in Arlington on December 31st and then the Union Bank in Kalida on February 11th. He was also connected to three other bank robberies that occurred in February.

An Ohio City man was arrested after allegedly setting fire to a van wert county home. 31-year-old Scott Keber is charged with one count of aggravated arson and is being held in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility awaiting arrangement.  According to the Van Wert County Sheriff Tom Riggenbach, his office was notified when someone saw a person setting a fire at a resident in the village of Glenmore, just after midnight Sunday morning.  Deputies found a vehicle that was connected to the suspect that started the fire, and through their investigation, they arrested Keber.  Riggenbach says Keber’s arrest is for only the fire at the residents Sunday morning.  The investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office into a string of barn fire in Van Wert and Mercer counties is ongoing.

On September 5, 2021, Latson drove up to a house on Perry Street where Morris was, because he was upset that his father was injured by someone there earlier that day. Morris had a gun and fired three shots at the vehicle as it was speeding off, hitting Latson in the back.

33-year-old Tyreese Morris was given seven days in jail for the charge. On the second day of the trial, Morris was in the gallery in support of Demarco Morris, when he caused a disruption during testimony and was asked to leave, he then became argumentative when he left and Judge Terri Kohlrieser charged him with misdemeanor contempt of court.
