LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Services are available to assist anyone who has been a victim of crime, and no one has to go through it alone.

Crime Victim Services offers support during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

April 6-12 marks National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, a time to raise awareness and support for survivors. Allen and Putnam County Crime Victim Services is working to spread the word about the resources available to those affected by crime.

Last year, the organization assisted more than 4,000 residents in Allen County and more than 3,000 in Putnam County. Their goal remains to provide support and guidance to anyone in need.

"After being victimized, it can be a really difficult situation to go through everything by yourself, but we're there so you don’t have to," said Cora Kindle, a court victim advocate and licensed social worker. "We have advocates who can answer questions and point you in the right direction. If we don’t have an answer, we’ll help find one. Our goal is to support you so you don’t have to feel alone."

To bring awareness to the cause, Crime Victim Services is organizing several social media campaigns. They are encouraging the public to wear mauve on Monday, April 7, as a sign of support. In addition, the organization will hold its first Brick Planting Ceremony at the Phyllis Neff Homicide Memorial Garden as part of its events.

For those in need of assistance or looking to learn more, Crime Victim Services can be reached at (419) 222-8666 or online at crimevictimservices.org.
