AUGLAIZE COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — Congressman Jim Jordan was back in the region Tuesday, making two stops in Auglaize County to check on developments in that part of his Fourth Congressional District.

Jordan’s first stop was at the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce roundtable in New Bremen, where he met with several mayors, law enforcement officials, and government representatives.

After his New Bremen visit, Jordan traveled to the Auglaize County Crisis Center in Wapakoneta to learn more about the services provided there. Following his visit, Jordan, who also serves as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, spoke with us about Google’s recent announcement following an investigation by the Judiciary Committee, as well as President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”

“We had a big announcement today [Tuesday] that Google sent the committee a statement saying they're going to stop the censorship that they were involved in, censoring Americans. They're going to readmit people they kicked off of YouTube. They're never going to use this, this concept called fact checkers. These people think they're smarter than the rest of us and tell us, you know, what's, what's misinformation, disinformation, all that baloney,” says Rep. Jim Jordan, (R) Ohio’s 4th District/Chair of the House Judiciary Committee.

“The biggest piece of legislation we've got done this Congress is the one “Big Beautiful Bill,” and it accomplished some of those things that we that we campaign on, certainly that the President campaigned on: cutting taxes, largest tax cut in history, securing the border, largest investment border security in history, making able bodied people in our welfare system actually work. It's good for them, good for us, good for the economy. And then, of course, there was a school choice component that's now in the tax code, that was part of that bill too. So I think all those things are good,” Rep. Jordan added.

Jordan also addressed concerns about crime in major cities.

“The general problem is you have so many of these urban areas where they have, they've defunded the police, where they have said, we're going to, we're going to, you know, elect, where they've elected soft on crime prosecutors, and where they've they've went to, you know, no cash bail. And turns out we do those things, bad things happen. In DC, crime is down. When the President brought in the national National Guard and, go figure, you have more law enforcement, you get less crime. Well, Shazam, who would have thought,” Rep. Jordan shared.

Several members of his staff will be traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sept. 29 for a hearing following the stabbing death of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
