Annexation hearing in Delphos draws community concerns over development

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Allen County Commissioner's Office held a hearing about the annexation of land from Marion Township to the city of Delphos.

The public voiced their concerns about the potential annexation of around a 9-acre plot of land located in Delphos. Many worry that the land will change into commercial use as well as the increase in traffic. The purpose of this hearing was to see if the land at its current state could be annexed. This raised the question of the potential development of a speedway gas station. There were representatives for the city of Delphos and Marion Township.

"Services will be provided to the annex territory which include police protection, fire protection, rescue and ambulance service, access to natural gas electric and cable services, water and sewer services," says a representative in favor of the annexation.

"Our reason for contesting this is the change of use that comes with it. I know you are not taking that into consideration today, but it's a very real matter, and it's a very real issue, and that's why all these people are sitting here today," says a representative opposing the annexation.

After hearing both sides of the case, the commissioners have up to 30 days to make a decision
