As district maps continue to be an issue in the state of Ohio, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says that it might be time to look at the overall process.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says he would be open to reviewing the state redistricting rules after the election, due to the current district maps that the Ohio Supreme Court has rejected now multiple times. The Ohio governor stresses that "competitiveness" should be a factor when it comes to redistricting rules.
"One of the things that was said was that this would make more competitive districts," said DeWine. "And the way it's played out, if you take the constitution and the three Supreme Court decisions, it's no fault of anybody but the result has been there is a premium putting on fewer competitive districts and that's not what people intended. So I think we take a look at this."
Currently, with district boundaries unsettled, state legislative candidates will not appear on the primary ballots.
