LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Primrose Retirement Community of Lima shows its appreciation to nurses of the past and present.
Primrose wrapped up National Nurses Week on Friday with a brunch to say thank you to their sixteen nurses on staff and five of their residents who are retired nurses. All nurses enjoyed trading stories about their time in the profession and how the industry has changed over the decades. Two of the retired nurses also brought in their vintage uniform caps to show everyone. The nursing profession is often taken for granted, so Primrose wanted to spend the week letting all of their nurses know they recognized their hard work.
"To be a nurse, you've got to have a heart to care for people 24/7, all those around you, wherever you are, you are a nurse, and you care about them, and we see that with ours," said Lisa Bowers, the Director of Nursing at the Primrose Retirement Community of Lima.
"When you take your cap off, you don't take your cap off. Once you're a nurse, you're a nurse, and once you're a nurse, you're our fellow nurse, so we wanted to respect them," added Assistant Director of Nursing Tammy Fleck.
Bowers adds that nurses go above and beyond what's included in their job description to make patients feel cared for.
