August 6, 2024, Press Release from Mercer Health: Mercer Health held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on August 5, 2024 at Romer’s Catering in St. Henry. This annual event is held to celebrate the accomplishments of the members of the Volunteer Association of Mercer Health. The evening began with an invocation delivered by Volunteer Chaplain Steve Broering and included a recap of the year by Volunteer Chairperson, Terry Liette. The third annual $1,500 Volunteer Association scholarship was awarded to Audrey Wendel of St. Henry. Guest speakers for this year’s event included Mercer Health CEO Lisa Klenke and Mercer Health CFO Jon Dingledine.

The Lima Chapter of the NAACP is supporting high school students who are ready to take that next step to college. On July 20th, they will be holding their 9th annual scholarship banquet at the Graduate Medical Building at Mercy Health-St. Rita's. The Lima chapter is looking to help as many students as they can from school districts around Lima, and by coming to the banquet, you can help fund the scholarship program.

Primrose wrapped up National Nurses Week on Friday with a brunch to say thank you to their sixteen nurses on staff and five of their residents who are retired nurses. All nurses enjoyed trading stories about their time in the profession and how the industry has changed over the decades. Two of the retired nurses also brought in their vintage uniform caps to show everyone. The nursing profession is often taken for granted, so Primrose wanted to spend the week letting all of their nurses know they recognized their hard work.

A large number of Mercer and Auglaize County high school students enrolled at Tri Star Career Compact were recognized for their academic excellence. 32 students were awarded Outstanding Student Awards for their respective academic program and were treated with a catered dinner Monday night at the 13th annual Tri Star Career Compact Awards Banquet in Celina.

Habitat for Humanity Lima celebrated their volunteers and partners Tuesday Night during their Christmas Banquet at the City Club in Downtown Lima. Habitat for Humanity Lima had a busy year in 2022 which included completely repairing roofs for several families in need, and all of that hard work accomplished would not be possible without the generosity and passion from volunteers and partners.

The Mothers Against Drunk Driving, also known as MADD, hosts the 2022 Top Cop Awards Banquet Tuesday Evening at the FOP Hall, Lima Lodge #21. Tuesday's event marks the 27th annual banquet held to commemorate local law enforcement who have helped to make roadways safer by taking drunk and impaired drivers off the road.

The awards were handed out to the winners, and they were given a chance to speak about the time that they have given to their communities and the people living there. They were also given $350 to go towards supporting their charity of choice.
