Primrose wrapped up National Nurses Week on Friday with a brunch to say thank you to their sixteen nurses on staff and five of their residents who are retired nurses. All nurses enjoyed trading stories about their time in the profession and how the industry has changed over the decades. Two of the retired nurses also brought in their vintage uniform caps to show everyone. The nursing profession is often taken for granted, so Primrose wanted to spend the week letting all of their nurses know they recognized their hard work.

When it comes to organ donations, every second counts. That's why Cleveland Clinic surgeons are using new technology to help preserve livers before they're transplanted. You may have seen the coolers that hospitals use to transport donor organs for transplant. However, new technology is helping organ transportation to keep them somewhat alive between donors and recipients. Doctors say that by using perfusion methods, they're able to pump oxygenated blood or solution through a donor's liver outside the body.

Seven students were selected from the ten-county area to receive money to fully fund their tuition and textbook costs. With this year's scholarship winners, the Lima Memorial Auxiliary has now funded the education of 25 future nurses. The recipients will be working at the hospital while they're earning their degrees and certifications, and they'll be hired full-time when they graduate. The scholarship program is about investing in both students' futures and community healthcare.
