ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Crime Victim Services is asking the public to wear teal on April 4th in support of those who have survived sexual violence.
Look in your closet and put on something teal. This is just one activity that Crime Victim Services has planned for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Several businesses in the Lima area are also supporting those survivors by hosting displays along with food and drink specials. The more people that participate in these activities, the more the word gets out that "no means no," and if consent is not given, any sexual activity is considered sexual violence by the CDC. The Crime Victim Services Day One program is equipped to help survivors of sexual violence.
"If they're an adult and they're scared and they don't want to report otherwise, they just want some healing and support, and ideas on, like, where do I go from here? We're able to do that for them. We can link them with other services they might need," said Rebecca Peckinpaugh, director of DayOne program at Crime Victim Services.
You can contact "DayOne" at the main office line or their 24/7 crisis line listed on your screen. You can find out more about April events on their Facebook page.
