LAKEVIEW, OH (WLIO) -Â Massive debris removal operations continue across the hard-hit Indian Lake following the destructive path left behind by last week's tornado. At a press conference on Friday, Logan County EMA Director Helen Norris stated that the March 14th tornado is the largest debris event in Logan County history and exceeds by a factor of ten times the damage produced by the January 2005 ice storm. With FEMA arriving to conduct a joint public damage assessment on Tuesday, March 26th, Logan County officials have set up a system for residents to self-report damage to assist with this assessment.
"As part of our ongoing efforts to obtain resources in the state and federal level, we do need help in getting residents to self-report the damage that has happened at their home. They can do that online. That can be found through the Logan County EMA Facebook or Logan County EMA website, or they can also call in to the Recovery Call Center (937) 292-4041 as a great place for residents to self-report about the issues that they're having and report their damage," shared Ben Vollrath, Logan County Public Information Officer.
According to the Logan County EMA website, the self-reports will be relayed to FEMA and will help determine if Indian Lake qualifies for a federal disaster declaration. On the local level, Logan County officials can use these reports to help connect residents with their Long-Term Recovery Committee.
