The trial for a Mansfield man who is facing charges for a March stabbing has been pushed back until September 2024. 30-year-old Rocky Hayner signed a time waiver this week, and the judge has moved the trial back to the fall. His lawyer has asked that statements that he made during interviews with law enforcement be suppressed. A hearing will be held in July to discuss that motion.
During a preliminary hearing, officers from the Lima Police Department said that Hayner rode a bicycle from the Mansfield area to confront Maldonado, who was seeing Hayner's ex-girlfriend because he didn't like how Maldonado was treating her. Detectives say the two fought and Hayner stabbed Maldonado. No hearing dates have been set yet for Hayner.
