The COVID-19 pandemic is making people consider staying home this Memorial Day weekend, then traveling like they have done in years past.

In 2019, AAA reported the second highest travel weekend on record with 43 million people taking to the roads on Memorial Day weekend.   This Memorial Day, they are predicting what could be the lowest number of travelers since AAA began tracking numbers 20 years ago.

 55% of American workers are not using all of their vacation time.  The U.S. Travel Association also says that workers left 9% more vacation time unused in 2018 than they did in 2017.  They estimate that is costing people on average around $571 in donated work time.  Using vacation time can be beneficial to reducing stress levels, increasing productivity, and over-all wellbeing.  But AAA Ohio says the best way to use all of those days is to sit down and plan a vacation is right now.

AAA Ohio partnered with Lima Community Church this weekend to keep our smallest citizens safe on the roads. AAA was set up in the church's parking lot examining car seats and teaching drivers the proper way to ensure their children's safety. The organization says that roughly 80 percent of car seats nationwide are not used properly and that one of the things that people do is turn the car seat around too early.
