Start the New Year outdoors with fresh air, scenic trails, and a renewed focus on health and wellness. “Beginning the year with a First Day Hike is more than just a fitness activity; it’s about reconnecting with nature and making lasting memories with family and friends,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “With trails across our state parks offering something for everyone, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Ohio’s natural beauty.”

A bicyclist was killed after he lost control and fell onto a Findlay street and was struck by a vehicle. The Findlay Police Department says that 85-year-old Dennis McCracken from Findlay died from injuries from the crash. The incident happened just before 10 a.m. in the 700 block of Trenton Avenue. McCracken was riding on the sidewalk when he lost control and fell into the street.

October 11, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: VAN BUREN, Ohio – Year-round reservations are now available at Van Buren State Park! The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) upgraded 61 campsites at the Van Buren State Park Campground to include full RV hook up and other amenities in and around the sites. The $3.9 million project was a direct result of visitor feedback after the public called for modernized amenities and infrastructure. One of the major enhancements was connecting the campground to the City of Findlay’s municipal water supply. The critical upgrade also resulted in the installation of 11 new fire hydrants along Township Road 218, significantly improving fire safety in the area. Construction at the campground started in October 2023 and wrapped up recently this September.

Bicyclist have been helping a  Lima Youth Ministry for the past 16 years through the annual River Ride.   

An Auglaize County campground is glad to be open on Memorial Day after an EF-3 tornado hit them a little over two months ago. Glacier Hills Lakes officially opened for business today. They weren't sure if they'd be ready for the holiday after nearly 100 campsites sustained damage from the tornado.
