The Ohio Department of Health says only a few mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile this summer, and no human cases have been reported. In samples collected by the city of Delphos, there has been no detection of the virus. Mosquitoes prefer stagnant water to lay their eggs, and they can hatch in as little as seven days. The key is to avoid creating a habitat for these nuisance pests.

The Allen County Board of Elections will soon be seeing a change of scenery, but instead of moving away they are moving up. The Board is renovating space on the first floor of the Court of Appeals building in downtown Lima with plans to move their whole operation there in the coming months.

Fatal crashes in Allen County dropped in 2018, this according to the Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition. Allen County rounded out the year with no car accident fatalities in the month of December. The year as a whole saw nine crashes that resulted in a total of twelve fatalities. The number of crashes is down from 2017, which saw 11 fatal crashes.
