Tony Brigano has been retired for over 20 years after working 30 years at various places in the Ohio prison system. But when he wanted to raise money for the National MS Society in honor of his daughter Michelle, who has multiple sclerosis, he went back to the prisons to ask the inmates to join "Team Michelle."
41-year-old, Anitaun Harris pleaded guilty to the charge of assault in Allen County Common Pleas Court. Another charge of felonious assault was dropped. Harris is currently serving a 15-year prison term on a voluntary manslaughter charge out of Stark County Ohio. The indictment alleges Harris attacked a prison employee in November of 2020 while he was at Allen Oakwood. He is currently in the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. Harris will be sentenced in March on the new charge.
A memorial garden has been dedicated to the employees that made the ultimate sacrifice at the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution. The facility held a remembrance ceremony to mark the completion of the project, unveiling the garden to those in attendance.
The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapters 89 and 732 worked together on a sleeping bag package project. The packages are put together by the inmates at Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution and include several items like a sleeping bag, several sizes of duffle bags, a woven plastic mat, and a bag of toiletries.
Michael Porter has pleaded no contest and found guilty to his 10 charges of pandering sexually-oriented material of a minor and 10 charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. Opening statements had just finished in the trial by judge when the attorneys decided to work out a resolution.
