The American Township Fire Department and police are investigating an early morning fire that destroyed a playground in the Laurel Oaks subdivision. Firefighters were called to the playground around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The rubber mulch and the plastic playground equipment were destroyed in the blaze. Fire officials say there is no electricity that runs to the playground, so they are calling the fire suspicious. The playground is owned by the Laurel Oaks Neighborhood Association.
