Students at Ohio State Lima were able to tap into their creative side as a way to improve their overall well-being. Students got the chance to put paint to paper with squeegee painting on Wednesday afternoon. The event is part of Buckeyes Thrive, a campus initiative to encourage students to get involved in campus activities. This is just one of the art therapy programs that Ohio State Lima is doing to promote better mental health.

As part of Ohio State Lima's Welcome Week, students were given opportunities to explore campus life and various ways they can get involved. The involvement fair featured around 25 diverse student organizations and other campus activities. The students learned about activities like student government and clubs that feature fields of study like psychology and zoology. School officials say joining these activities is a great way to do something outside of the classroom.

A new facility has opened to help people who are battling addiction and mental health problems. Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions held an open house at their new South Cable Road location. Lighthouse opened its first Lima location four years ago. Now they renovated the former Knights of Columbus Hall into a new space that will not only allow them to help more people, but it has an outdoor space where people can relax and garden and a peer center for clients to hang out.

May 15, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Family and Children First Council: Allen County Family & Children First Council announces The Healing Power of Empathy & Connection, a 3-hour trauma-informed training scheduled for Tues. May 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at The Ohio State University Lima campus. Mary Vicario, founder of Finding Hope Consulting, will share language and interventions that bring neurobiology to life for youth with trauma history or who are neurodivergent. A part of the Facilitating Healing, Resiliency and Hope Series, this session will provide a framework including three stages of positive trauma resolution and five resilience factors identified in those overcoming traumatic experiences.
