March 19th will now be known as West Ohio Food Bank and Ohio National Guard day in Lima. According to the proclamation, the food bank and national guard were able to distribute over 14 million pounds of food in the past year, more than doubling their normal yearly average. March 23rd will make it exactly a year since the guard arrived to help at the food banks. 

Lima City Council held a special council meeting to discuss the proposed Shawnee Lofts. Lima City Council members voiced their concerns over the location of the proposed Shawnee Lofts, which is the former location of the Area Agency on Aging. It would be for families that earn at or below 30% to 70% of the area median income. The council had some concerns about losing students from Lima City Schools, and what it could do to the community.

Mayor David Berger has asked the Allen Economic Development Group to work closely with another city official.
