The Lima Police Department was called out to a home in the 2400 block of Lakewood Avenue, around 9:30 a.m. on New Year's Eve morning, after a person looking after the home while the residents were away found two dead canines. They were both skinned and left in the driveway. The person that noticed the canines told police that they were not there at 10 o'clock the night before when they were at the home last.

Lima Superintendent Jill Ackerman says a recent award she received is thanks to the hard work of everyone in the district. She was one of only four people out of 30 applicants in the state to receive the “Ohio Superintendent of Excellence” by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. She says she is thankful for the recognition and that it wouldn’t have been possible without the teachers, staff, and administration working together to serve the students and community.
