Care Access is looking for individuals to take part in a medical screening that could save lives. They are looking for those who are underserved in clinical trials, such as the African-American and Hispanic populations, to be screened for a specific type of cholesterol known as lipoprotein (a). It can affect 1 in every 5 people, and for African Americans, it can be 1 in every 3. It's part of the 'bad' cholesterol, and elevated levels of it can put individuals three times more at risk for heart disease and stroke.
