A current Lima Allen County business deciding to stay local with their new location.
Lima City Council has approved a tax abatement for the construction of a new John Deere sales, service and repair facility on Commerce Parkway in Perry Township.
“Behind the scenes, we are working on agreements and support and permits and just a number of things that we have to bring in our local agencies like our county engineer and our utilities. And so it takes a number of months to get these projects to the point where you can break ground,” said Cindy Leis, president and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Group.
The Allen County Engineers office says that McClain Road from Commerce Parkway to Buckeye Road will be closed to traffic on Tuesday June 10 and Wednesday 11 for pavement milling. The closure is between 7 am and 5 pm. There will be emergency access only during closure.

The new $6 million facilities will be located off Commerce Parkway. Representatives from Perry proTECH revealed details on the new structures during Monday's Lima City Council meeting. The company will receive a 10-year, 75% tax abatement for the project. The agreement will include a 50,500 square-foot building, retention of 78 jobs and the addition of six jobs.
AEDG is working on getting infrastructure ready near Commerce Parkway off McClain Road. Bids were open today for water and sewer at what will be known as Gateway 5 Industrial Park. Economic development officials say this will open a new opportunity for business and industry. Five bids were accepted and will be evaluated.
After more than a year of planning the Allen County Department of Jobs and Family Services is making the big move. They will be moving along with Ohio Means Jobs Allen County into their new building at Commerce Parkway, off State Route 65 near Interstate 75. The move will take place next Friday, December 20th which means their offices will be closed that day. They will be back open Monday, December 23rd at the new location. The new facility offers a more conducive space better suited to their needs.
