Allen County Adult Protective Services is encouraging residents to wear purple on June 15 in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Officials hope the campaign will raise awareness about elder abuse, neglect and exploitation while connecting seniors with resources that help them remain safe and independent.

PASS leaders spoke at the Allen County Democratic Party’s Lunch and Learn event about the importance of safely storing firearms, medications, and other dangerous items away from children. The organization is offering free lock boxes to Allen County families as part of Lima’s “Store It Safe” initiative.

Real Facts— This was the theme of the first annual community gathering hosted by Association of People Against Lethal Drugs, or APALD. For inspiration overcoming addiction, Vice President JD Vance's mother, Beverly Vance Aikins, was the keynote speaker. Aikins shared her story battling years of drug addiction that was also made public in Vice President Vance’s 2016 memoir, "Hillbilly Elegy.”
