Fred Miller, president of the Wapak Breakfast Optimist Club, said, “What more could you ask for, to be out in the sun in a hammock, reading? I mean, that just says it all. For the kids, that's our end goal, to create better, I guess, projects for kids that are out there to help them as far as their comprehension in school.”
Students were touring the fire department as this year's topic is the fire that destroyed 32 structures and left 50 people homeless in the village. This is the second year of the program which is a partnership with the school and the Cridersville Historical Society. The students were all ears and eyes as they learned about the firefighting equipment.
It was the first day of classes for the Wapakoneta City School District and students at Cridersville Elementary got some special visitors. Members of the 304th Engineer Company of the Army Reserve in Lima and Tom Martin of the United States Marine Corps Detachment 1063 of Lima joining the students as they kicked off the new school year. Martin spoke about the different flags used by the military and the public when showing their patriotism for the United States.
With the Thanksgiving holiday coming up many schools have been taking time to be thankful.
