Students that build positive connections with teachers and other kids could lead to better mental health and success in education. A new poll by the Kids Mental Health Foundation says that 50% of parents believe too much technology hinders kids from making connections in the classroom. Parents say their kids don't make good connections because the students don't believe they fit in because of race, culture, or socio-economic status. Experts have some advice.

May 15, 2024, Press Release from the Allen County Family and Children First Council: Allen County Family & Children First Council announces The Healing Power of Empathy & Connection, a 3-hour trauma-informed training scheduled for Tues. May 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at The Ohio State University Lima campus. Mary Vicario, founder of Finding Hope Consulting, will share language and interventions that bring neurobiology to life for youth with trauma history or who are neurodivergent. A part of the Facilitating Healing, Resiliency and Hope Series, this session will provide a framework including three stages of positive trauma resolution and five resilience factors identified in those overcoming traumatic experiences.
