Governor Mike DeWine signed that order on Sunday as he began his second term. He cited concerns that personal information and business data collected by those platforms may be shared with the Chinese government. The order prohibits state agencies, boards, and commissions from using social media platforms whose owners are in China.
In a press release from the NAEP and the U.S Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics, Acting NCES associate commissioner for assessment Daniel J. McGrath stated that "If left unaddressed, this could alter the trajectories and life opportunities of a whole cohort of young people, potentially reducing their abilities to pursue rewarding and productive careers in mathematics, science, and technology."

Some customers of a Cleveland based bank got their information stolen by hackers. KeyBank says hackers stole personal data including social security numbers, addresses, and account numbers of an unspecified number of its home mortgage customers. It says the data was lost in the breach of the Georgia Insurance Services Company, Overby-Seawall, and compromised the data of its corporate clients. A letter sent to an affected KeyBank customer said the data was stolen July 5th. KeyBank operates in 15 states and has close to $200 billion in assets.
